SUMMER CAMP
It’s not too early to make your Summer plans

– and for many of us, that includes a string camp this Summer! String camp is a chance for players to learn new pieces, polish their technique, or try a new style of playing. It is also an opportunity to develop life-long friendships with other students who have
similar interests.

Barbara Barber Practicing
Cindy Y. at a campground in New Mexico
“Summer camps and festivals are valuable for any student, no matter what the level or age. Not only do they provide new challenges musically, camps also teach you about yourself, your playing and how to reach your full musical potential. I’ve had some of my best experiences playing in the orchestra, string quartet, or in a master class as a young violinist while attending a festival each Summer. It gave a window into the future – how far I could go, what the possibilities in music were – plus meeting other players who were like me. As a teacher, camps are a great refresher to get new ideas, meet other professionals, and help students find their own joy in music making.”

Camp: Colorado Roots Music Camp
Location: Divide, CO
Dates: June 1 - 7, 2008
Style:
Description: Don’t miss the Colorado Roots Music Camp June 1- June 7, 2008 on the west side of Pikes Peak in Divide, Colorado. It’s an unforgettable six days of bluegrass, folk, blues, swing, jazz, Irish, flatpicked and fingerstyle guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, bass, singing, learning and fun!  Break out of your routine and be inspired by a variety of styles, first-rate musicians, and the incredible experience of being immersed in acoustic music. Our instructors were specifically chosen for their ability to teach. Not only are they terrific players, but they are also known by peers and students as great instructors. Class sizes are small (less than 9-to-1 student to teacher ratio), so you’ll be sure to get plenty of individual attention. In addition to classes at all levels from beginner to advanced, there will be seminars, master classes, concerts, and lots of jamming!  Our instructors include Cary Black, David Coe, Julie Davis, Randy Elmore, Dave Firestine, Charlie Hall, Gerald Jones, Pat Kirtley, Tim May, Carol McComb, Raul Reynoso, Doug Smith and more. It’s held at the Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, surrounded by spruce, pine and aspen forest, beautiful red rock formations, and premier hiking trails. $625 includes everything--instruction, concerts, food, lodging, seminars, jams and all events.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
